Cacao Drink & Vegan Mousse

Cacao is considered the fruit of wisdom. This ancient ingredient is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients, and it is known to lower blood pressure and increase blood circulation through out the body and brain which make you feel great naturally. Peru is among some of the world’s top producers of organic cacao with various genetic types found in the Amazon Rainforest that are used for holistic ceremonies. Both of the recipes below are vegan, healthy and delicious (as if we needed a reason to eat more chocolate in our lives!). Enjoy.

CACAO DRINK: Serves 1

  • 2 oz of organic cacao powder

  • 7 oz of water

  • 1/4 cup of oat milk

  • Dash of cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt and honey to taste

Heat the water over low heat until gently simmering. Add the cacao powder and whisk together for a minute. Next add the remaining ingredients and mix together well. Two ounces of cacao is considered the full ceremonial dose but you may use one ounce for a light buzz or morning energizer.

CACAO MOUSSE: Serves 2

  • 1/2 cup of organic cacao powder

  • 4 ripe avocados

  • 1/4 cup of honey (add more to taste)

  • 1/3 cup of coconut nectar or water

  • 1 tsp of vanilla

  • Dash of salt to taste

  • Choice of toppings (I used star fruit, sliced almonds and coconut flakes)

Mix the avocados in a blender until creamy. Then add all of the remaining ingredients and blend well. Let the mousse sit in the fridge for about two hours. Serve with your choice of toppings - have fun with it!
